Bride of Ollichon - Nathalie
A non surprise, surprise proposal from Nathalie's soulmate that supported her right from day 1 through hard times! Tim sounds like a keeper to us!
How long have you been together?
A loooong time ....8 years - we met when I was working behind the bar in his local pub as a bit of respite from caring for my mum who was very sick with terminal cancer. Not a lot of guys would have stuck around but he did and that just shows what a wonderful, compassionate human being he is and why I fell in love with him.
Who proposed to who?
Tim proposed to me overlooking viking bay beach in Broadstairs last April. We'd just been to buy the ring and so even though I knew he was going to propose at some point, I was still surprised! The proposal was the culmination of a quite persistent 'let's get married' campaign on my part as we've both been married before so wanted to be sure it was right second time round!
What was your inspiration to go dress-less?
I've been married before and wore a dress and I look at pictures now and it just doesn't look like me - I don't look comfortable. I really wanted to feel and look like 'me' on my wedding day - of course there are hundreds of gorgeous wedding dresses out there and it's hard not to feel beautiful in some of them - but I never felt like myself - I felt I was looking at someone else in the mirror and I wanted Tim to look at me walking down the aisle and really see the 'me' he knows. The whole ethos of our wedding was that we wanted every inch of our wedding day to reflect who we as individuals are and so having the right outfit was a key part of that. I loved the Quirke as it was so elegant and stylish - I felt privileged to be Hannah's first 'Quirke' customer!
How did you feel in your outfit?
Absolutely gorgeous! It felt quite empowering being a bride in trousers too - and super comfy! Dancing was a breeze without worrying about lifting up the hem etc
My best friend Hannah flying in from LA to be there - she wasn't sure she'd make it a few days earlier so I was so happy to see her
Did anything not go to plan?!
Uh - quite a few things..... my cab was late so I was super late to the ceremony - then when I arrived the registrar didn't tell Tim so he thought I still hadn't arrived 25 minutes later! Then 3 of my friends went outside to try and call me and got locked out the ceremony room so missed me walking in!
Walking along the seafront as husband and wife with all our friends and family to our wonderful reception venue Wyatt and Jones in Broadstairs with the sun shining
What did your family and friends think about your outfit?
I got so many compliments - they all loved it and said it was very 'me' which is exactly what I wanted!
Will you wear it again?
Not sure to be honest - it's such a special outfit i don;t know where I would wear it - possibly separately.
I can't rate House of Ollichon highly enough. Hannah's designs means that there is a stylish, affordable and gorgeous alternative to a dress. Hannah is so committed to making sure that her brides understand her collection and encourages you to step outside your comfort zone and I'm so glad as really couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding outfit than the Quirke. House of Ollichon service and quality is also without fault. I can't thank Hannah enough for helping to make my wedding day such a perfect one.
