Bride of Ollichon - Kate
How long have you been together?
Sophia and I have been together since the Spring of 2013 - 5 and a half years almost to the day.
Who proposed to who?
Sophia proposed to me, she's not one for massive public displays of affection so she arranged a very romantic evening at home and popped the question.
Where did you get married?
We got married at a venue in North Devon called Ocean Kave. It was a mixture of the countryside and the beach which matched perfectly with mine and Sophia's upbringing (I grew up in the country, she grew up near the sea). When we saw the venue for the first time, we fell in love with the Cave more than anything as it was very intimate and we don't know anyone else who has been married in a Cave so we were keen to do something different.
What was your inspiration to go dress-less?
I have never been comfortable in dresses or skirts. I can count on one hand the amount of times I have worn one and I did not want to wear a white, fitted suit. I anticipated a real struggle in finding anything I would be able to wear and still feel myself in. I've always been slightly non-conformist and wearing a dress or a suit would have not have been true to my personality.
How did you hear about House of Ollichon?
Like any organised bride, Pinterest was my best friend. I found House of Ollichon on there first through searching "alternative wedding outfit" and quickly found House of Ollichon's Instagram and Facebook accounts. The South West of England is very limited for alternative wedding outfits so when I found House of Ollichon, I was THRILLED! I booked my appointment and my train tickets as soon as I could.
How did you feel in your outfit?
Like a rock star!
The best buy was the Valentim cape! I kept joking with Sophia all year that I was going to be a Super Bride and fly down the aisle. I wasn't joking. I legitimately had a cape!
That everyone turned up who said they would!
Did anything not go to plan?!
It rained all day. The Friday before and Sunday after had glorious sunshine but the heavens opened all day on our actual wedding day.
We knew it was risky but we made the best of it with some rainbow umbrellas for our wedding pictures which came out great.
When I saw Sophia waiting for me at the end of the aisle - She looked smokin'!
What did your wife, family and friends think about your outfit?
Everyone was very pleasantly surprised as no one really knew what I was going to wear. All the comments were massively positive. Everyone thought that the Kay jumpsuit suited me and my personality SO much. The cape especially became a talking point with everyone. It's not everyday you go to a wedding with a Super Bride
Will you wear it again?
I'd love to wear it everyday but it's probably not work appropriate!
House of Ollichon - My Saviour
After trawling through dozens of bridal shops across the South West, feeling more and more disheartened about the lack of variety and alternate wedding outfits, I cannot express how elated I was to find House of Ollichon. They were my light at the end of an endless wedding dress tunnel. My appointment was with Laura who was absolutely fantastic. She knew exactly which outfit would suit my body shape and under her recommendation, I chose the Kay. I felt like an absolute Rock Star! What bride doesn't want to feel like that on their wedding day?
Thank you so much to Hannah, Laura and the rest of the House of Ollichon team for making this part of the process so easy for me.
And big thanks to my mum for buying my outfit!
