Bride of Ollichon - Julia

Julia | True contentment

How long have you been together?

5 and a half years

Who proposed to who?

Patrick proposed to me. When Patrick decided to go to business school in Boston in 2017, I agreed to move with him. On our road trip to the east coast from San Francisco, we planned some backpacking adventures and trips to national parks along the way. Patrick proposed to me while we were camping by a lake one evening. I was very surprised and there were some expletives!

Where did you get married?

We got married at City Hall in San Francisco, where I am from, with just our immediate families. Then we had a big party in Philadelphia, PA, where Patrick is from.

What was your inspiration to go dress-less?

From the beginning I was pretty sure I wouldn't be into a big white dress. I loved the idea of a jumpsuit and found House of Ollichon pretty quickly online. I actually had reached out to Hannah in November 2017 and ended up getting my pieces in April 2019!

How did you feel in your outfit?

Totally amazing. The Lowry and Chung were so fun, beautiful and the perfect balance between alternative and elegant. The Bien and Valentim were heaven on earth. The movement of both together felt so luxe and regal - exactly the vibe I was going for.

Best buy?

Obviously all of my House of Ollichon pieces are at the top of the list but I would also say my earrings and cuff bracelet that my dear friend Ope of Octave Jewelry custom made for me were super special. As well as the gilded crowns that my super talented friend Natalie Klapper made for us. Also shout out to my Prada platforms!

Biggest surprise?

How much fun we had. Seriously, I was so stoked the entire time-- even now I can't believe it when I think about it. Having all of the people you love in one place together affirming your relationship, having a blast, and expressing their love for you is the best feeling in the world!

Did anything not go to plan?!

Nothing that actually mattered. Patrick and I can both get a little discombobulated, so we were losing and forgetting things left and right all day but our planners, families and friends totally stepped in to cover our butts.

Best moment?

Giving speeches to each other in front of all of our loved ones. Since we married at city hall, and didn't want to do a traditional ceremony, we spent a lot of time trying to figure our how we would make a special moment to honor our union at the party. We decided to just exchange our thoughts and feelings about each other and our future together-- it was perfect and I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!

What did Patrick and your family and friends think about your outfits?

So many compliments, lots of folks envious of the cape, and a bunch of our guests showed up in jumpsuits to be on theme which was so fun! My sister even said she was sad that I couldn't re-wear the Lowry for the big party so that more people could see it!

Will you wear it again?

I will find a way. Def the Bien to the right party, Lowry might be harder but even if I have to dye it I will. It's too cool not to.

From day one Hannah was a total dream to work with. I had a super not fun experience at another bridal boutique and coming to House of Ollichon was the total opposite. I fell in love with not one but four pieces and Hannah worked with me from the US to make them perfect, which wasn't easy! I would one thousand percent recommend Hannah and the team at House of Ollichon to anyone who's looking for something out of the ordinary for your special day!
