Bride of Ollichon - Danielle

Posted by Abby Summerville on

With an unexpected flash mob and a couple of scarecrows - Danielle and Shelley's wedding day was full of surprises!

Danielle chose the Hammond skirt and the McNamara top.

How long have you been together?

5 years

Who proposed to who?

Shelley proposed to me on the beach at Sand Bay ( near Weston-Super-Mare) in the same spot we had decided to officially be a couple 1,567 days previously (she put that into the proposal!)

Where did you get married?

We had the ceremony at The Guildhall, St. Ives, Cornwall and the reception at my parents house.

What was your inspiration to go dress-less?

I just didn’t feel in any way like a dress would be ‘me’ for my wedding day ( even though I do wear dresses), I just wanted something different.

How did you hear about House of Ollichon?

My Mum had seen an article in a magazine at her hairdressers featuring House of Ollichon pieces, she sent me some pictures and then I had a look on the website.

How did you feel in your outfit?

I felt amazing, I felt how I imagined it would feel to be a bride

Best buy?

The wedding cheese! Everyone is still raving about it! Outfit wise I would say my McNamara top, I wore it again already on our honeymoon!

Biggest surprise?

Two big surprises! One, our friends did a flash mob to Bruno Mars- Marry You after the speeches. The second, my parents had made life size straw scarecrows and put them in the greenhouse to surprise the guests at the wedding reception! (which was in their garden!) While it sounds bizarre, they seemed to be more photographed on the day than Shelley & I!

Did anything not go to plan?!

The weather was the only thing that didn’t go to plan. However it did stop raining at the start of the reception & remained dry. It was pretty muddy tho & it was dresses and wellies by about 5pm.

Best moment?

Confetti tunnel & seeing all our friends and family as we came down the driveway.

What did Shelley, your family and friends think about your outfit?

They all thought it was fantastic & very ‘me’. A couple of friends were surprised that I went dress-less as they said they had me down as more traditional but said I looked great. Shelley said I looked breathtaking ( to quote)!

Will you wear it again?

I have already worn the top again, with pink culottes on our honeymoon, I will have the skirt hem taken up so I can wear it with a different top to a friends wedding next year. Very versatile pieces!

Hannah and your team, thank you so much for making me the best bridal outfit & in turn helping me feel incredible on the most amazing day of my life. Your skill, kindness and attention to detail are what makes House of Ollichon so fantastic. Any bride to be looking for something different to wear on your wedding day, look no further.
