Bride of Ollichon - Cécilia

Posted by Abby Summerville on

Cécilia and her husband have known each other since they were 16, but have been together for nearly 9!  She knew she wanted to wear something original on her wedding day, far from the classic dresses she is used to seeing and so chose the Drakeford top and Morris skirt.

How long have you been together?

We've been together for 8 years. We will celebrate our 9th year on the 31st of December! But we've known each other since I was 16.

Who proposed to who?

It wasn't a big proposal like in romantic films, which wouldn't match with our personality. We came on to the subject during a simple discussion between the two of us.  Which I guess is romantic, in that it was obvious for both of us all year due to the big things we've done together (we renovated our entire house together)!

Where did you get married?

In Brittany, where we both come from, in a little town called Allaire, just near where we grew up.  We rented a village hall which is an old farm, divided in 3 parts, entirely renovated.

What was your inspiration to go dress-less?

I've known House of Ollichon because Hannah is the wife of one of my brother's best friends (a Breton too). My brother told me about House of Ollichon way before we had decided to get married and I fell in love with all those uncommon designs. When we decided to get married, I was glad to have the chance to choose an original outfit, far from the classic dresses I used to see in the few weddings I've been to. To sum up, I wanted to choose an outfit that would echo the original aspect of this unique day.

How did you feel in your outfit?

I chose the Drakeford top and the Morris skirt. At the beginning, I was a little nervous about the fact that the skirt is very fitted even if it is part of its charm and why I loved it so much. However, all the stress a wedding can give had some good points too... the small loss of weight induced for example ;) and on the big day, I felt as if the skirt was a second skin. I felt comfortable and sexy!!

Best buy?

All the stuff we bought for our home made decorations.

Biggest surprise?

The speeches from our family and friends, all the little movies they did for us, two songs written just for the occasion by my husband's Uncle and Mother and then the dance my best friend taught to everybody as a funny "fil rouge".

Did anything not go to plan?!

Nothing I noticed, we had a whole armada who covered everything for us !

Best moment?

Just before the ceremony, when our best men and girls, our family and closest friends got together at my parent's home to leave together.

What did your family and friends and husband think about your outfit?

My dress has charmed everybody. Some of my guests said that it reminded them a touch of sobriety and elegance of Meghan Markle's dress (the royal wedding was celebrated just the weekend before us). So I class that as a huge compliment. I'm so glad to have chosen this design combination.

Will you wear it again?

Even if I love it, I don't think so. I want it to remain part of the best memories of this unique day !

I highly recommend House of Ollichon!  Hannah answered all (and there were a lot) of my questions and accommodated me perfectly, even if I live in France.  She even organised a fitting during her Christmas holidays in Brittany to make thing easier for me, so cute!  Your outfits were the only ones I tried on and I couldn't imagine wearing anything else. Thanks so much to Hannah and all her staff for having contributed to this unique day of happiness !
