Bride of Ollichon - Bethan
Bethan and Guy met at Uni but it wasn't the right place or the right time....8 years later they met at a re-union in 2011 and got married last month! We love the finding each other years down the line stories! Bethan wore the Le Fay skirt and Drakeford top
How long have you been together?
Guy and I met at University in 2004. We dated for a while but then parted ways when we graduated. We didn't see each other for about 8 years after that but then met up again at a gathering of old Uni friends in 2011 and the rest, as they say, is history!
Who proposed to who?
Guy proposed to me. It was a complete surprise and I was blown away by the effort he put into the proposal - I never knew he was such a romantic ;-)
Where did you get married?
The Marylebone Town Hall. It reopened for weddings in Jan 2018 after nearly five years of closure for refurbishment. It looks so beautiful now! It was a small wedding so we just had a lovely lunch at the Chiltern Firehouse afterwards with 10 of our nearest and dearest.
What was your inspiration to go dress-less?
When we decided to have a very small and intimate wedding, the idea of wearing a traditional and elaborate wedding dress just didn't feel right. A friend suggested a jumpsuit so that led me to the House of Ollichon website initially. On the day of my fitting I loved the jumpsuits but once I tried on the two pieces I knew that a skirt and top was just more 'me'!
How did you feel in your outfit?
Amazing! I felt so comfortable in it.
My best 'buys' are probably the things that were gifted to me or borrowed! My friend Emma is an incredible floral designer and she made me the most beautiful bouquet. Another friend lent me some very special diamond winged shape earrings - she and another friend of ours both wore the earrings on their wedding day so it's a nice thing that ties us all together!
Guy's sister flew over from Vancouver for the wedding and we only found that out a few days before so that was a lovely surprise.
Did anything not go to plan?!
Because the day was so relaxed and informal there wasn't really any plan to deviate from - ha!
Saying our vows was my favourite bit of the day. It was so much more emotional than I thought it was going to be.
What did your family and friends think about your outfit?
They all loved it. Everyone said how much it suited my personality and style which was so important to me. Even though I was a bride for the day I still wanted to feel like myself.
Will you wear it again?
I'd love to. Perhaps on my wedding anniversary I'll wear the top with some high waisted trousers.
We planned our wedding in just 6 weeks and where other designers balked at the idea of getting a dress fitted and made that quickly, Hannah didn't hesitate to make it happen.
I was nervous about trying on wedding dresses as I'm quite an indecisive person and find clothes shopping a bit stressful! At House of Ollichon I actually enjoyed trying on the two pieces and jumpsuits as Hannah made me feel so comfortable and I trusted her recommendations. The whole experience with House of Ollichon was so positive that I'd highly recommend using them and going dress-less to all those brides to be out there!
