Bride of Ollichon - Adelaide
With Adelaide and her Italian family entourage in the House of Ollichon studio it was such a fun day, and in Adelaides own words, she didn't feel like a princess on her big day, she felt like a superstar! Adelaide wore the Bouilly jumpsuit.
How long have you been together?
We have been together for two and a half years, but our relationship has been pretty intense! We are both Italian, from Lucca, a small town in Tuscany and one month after we started dating Matteo received a job offer in the UK. He left and after three months I handed in my resignation and followed him...the best gamble ever!!!
Who proposed to who?
Matteo proposed to me four months after I moved to the UK, during our first holiday back to Italy in one of his “places of the heart”, a modern church made by one of his favourite architects.
Where did you get married?
We had a civil ceremony at Gipsoteca Andreotti in Pescia. A museum inside a beautiful ancient building. As soon as I visited the place the first time I was totally thrilled thinking about the photo opportunities with all the white statues and how they would work with my amazing jumpsuit! After the ceremony we had a party with relatives and friends at Ristorante Villa Garzoni, delicious food in a breathtaking “italian style” garden where we had dinner and danced late into the night.
What was your inspiration to go dress-less?
I've always imagined myself as a “non-traditional”bride (even when I was single!!) so through the years I changed my mind several times: short dress, coloured dress, a boyfriend white shirt and so on...but when the time arrived, I was pretty confused because all of my ideas had already been done! Luckily, during a group chat with mum and sister, mum suggested “why not trousers?” and within five minutes my sister sent me a picture of a lovely Victor&Rolf bridal jumpsuit and I fell in love with the idea.
How did you feel in your outfit?
Comfortable, stylish and amazing!
Actually I've got two of them.
The first one was my shoes: I wanted bi-colour shoes to match the black piping on my Bouilly jumpsuit (based on this, the wedding theme became black and white!) but I struggled a lot in shops and online to get the perfect ones. Finally I saw a pair of Fendi sandals, unfortunately 2015 collection so really hard to find but miraculously I got them and they were perfect!
The second is my bouquet made by the very talented Angolo Floreale, we had a phone call and she immediately understood the style and the mood of my jumpsuit and suggested a bouquet made with green branches and orchids (which was reminiscent of my mum's bridal bouquet), almost one metre long, modern and simple but perfectly matched with the jumpsuit and the train.
Actually the biggest surprise was a couple of days before my wedding when my great friend (and wedding witness) Laura organised the sweetest hen party ever! All of my girlfriends, having al fresco aperitifs and dinner on a beautiful summery evening, with Polaroid pictures, flower crowns and a heart-shaped cake! I was delighted!!!
Did anything not go to plan?!
Nothing! Everything has been wonderful and I loved every single second... and I think I was too happy, excited and moved even to realise there were any problems!!
This is the hardest question...I have so many; the preparation with my family, when I saw Matteo super smart and handsome (and moved), the huge joy of having all our friends and relatives there (living abroad we do miss them), when my sister – the most controlled and poised woman I've ever met- hugged me in tears after the ceremony, when I said “I do” and I was so touched that my voice came out like a squeak making everybody laugh, my eleven year old brother, serious and focused in charge of the rings and I could go on for hours...
What did Matteo and your family and friends think about your outfit?
I made my first appointment with Hannah when my family came to London so they helped me choose and everybody loved the jumpsuit at first sight. My friends said that it was totally unexpected but was “perfectly me”, Matteo loved my outfit and he confessed his most frequent thought has been: “OH WOW!!!”
Will you wear it again?
I don't know. I'd really love to but I can’t imagine a special enough occasion but, never say never!
As soon as I decided to wear a jumpsuit I began searching all around the internet, literally everywhere! It was tough because the options were pretty few and far between: bridal boutiques keep at most one or two styles but that wasn't enough...but finally, I saw the light – House of Ollichon!
House of Ollichon is such a unique concept and Hannah is beyond lovely and amazing. She has been such a treasure from the first appointment when I occupied the studio with my noisy Italian parents and siblings to the last appointment when I left with my beloved jumpsuit and a tiny tear! Throughout the whole process she has always been helpful, patient, supportive and sunny, I'll choose House of Ollichon one hundred more times!
