A Winter Wedding House of Ollichon Style

Posted by Chloe Hobden on

Welcome back and Happy Christmas!

The countdown to Christmas is finally here and we are super excited. We have had such a great year here at House of Ollichon so we thought we would end this year with some of our more festive brides.

A lot of people decide to get married in summer, as we live in the UK, it’s better odds for reliable weather… sometimes. But we do also have several winter weddings too and we are totally here for it.

A winter wedding can really change a bride’s aesthetic, from bright colours and seasonal flowers to dark moody tones and a bit of added sparkle. We love that our brides bring us such a variety and we have a few tips to help style your wedding Winter-Wonderland.

There are a number of ways in which you can transform your bridal outfit so you are ready for the colder weather. We will be going through step-by-step our tips on how to style your winter wedding outfit from head to toe.

1. Go for a Sleeve:

All the pieces in our collection can be personalised and altered so they are completely bespoke. Why not add a sleeve to your favourite design? We have a few fabrics to choose from, but we can also source new fabrics if you are after something a little more personal. Adding a sleeve is a great way to introduce prints, colours or different textures without being too overwhelming.

2. Dress it up with a cape:

We absolutely LOVE a bridal cape. They are such a fun piece to add to any outfit. Not only do they look amazing, but they add an extra layer of warmth for when you are outside having photos or traveling between venues day to night. Our Kosby Cape is the perfect winter wedding accessory and can be paired with any of our outfits as it is so versatile; sleek and elegant.

3. Add some sparkle:

When it comes to a Christmas wedding, you can pretty much add any amount of sparkle. Our Bien jumpsuit is hand beaded ready to dance the night away in style. If you aren’t into anything which is too extreme, this fabric is a great addition to your outfit as it is minimal yet effective. The Constable Top is also a great option if jumpsuits aren’t your thing, which could be paired with our pearlescent Sand wash Silk Torres Trouser. Both going hand in hand to add a festive touch to your wedding outfit.

4. Twinkle Toes

A great way to add a pop of colour to any outfit is a fun pair of shoes. Wedding shoes shouldn’t have to just be Ivory as they may not be worn again and buying an expensive pair of shoes to only wear for one day is kind of pointless right? We have seen a lot of our brides really show their personality through their shoes, anything goes! If you're not into wearing heels or want to go for a more comfortable option on your wedding day, you could always opt for a cool Doc Marten boot or some fun trainers.

5. Jumpers and Jackets but Bridal

There can be a lot of ways to wear a jumper or jacket with your wedding outfit which won't dress it down. There are so many small businesses or brands out there which cater for this exact thing. Our only UK supplier Waxflower Bridal is owned by a lovely lady called Kathy. She sells the most amazing bridal jackets which look so cool with any bridal outfit. This is also a great way to add some personality to your look. Here at house of Ollichon, we are able to make bespoke jackets to go perfectly with the fabric you have chosen for your outfit. If this is something you are thinking of, pop us an email to bonjour@houseofollichon.co.uk with any ideas!

Here are just our faves for styling a winter or Christmas wedding. There are so many ways in which you can personalise and style your outfit without feeling like it’s too over the top. Be a special version of your normal self.

As we will be soon closing for Christmas, we want to wish all of our clients, readers and friends a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
