Bride of Ollichon - Danielle
Danielle was absolutely a firm no for anything bridal, but found House of Ollichon and changed her mind! She wore the Thomas skirt and then worked with Hannah on a beautiful bespoke top which we love so much, we have named it the Galway and will be adding it to our collection.
How long have you been together?
We've been together for 6.5 years
Who proposed to who?
Jon proposed to me, in Yosemite National Park, in California and it was a total surprise!
What was your inspiration to go dress-less?
I originally didn't want anything bridal and searched on the internet for months for a special dress before deciding to try on some actual wedding dresses. Nothing really felt like me, I didn't like the traditional stuff and then I came across House of Ollichon whilst searching for alternative bridal boutiques. Once I came in for a fitting, I fell in love with everything and stopped looking anywhere else.
How did you feel in your outfit?
I felt amazing in my outfit, it was so flattering and although it was very dressy, it also felt fun and relaxed and very me. I changed my original plan to wear a plain dress to the registry office and wore my House of Ollichon outfit on both days because I loved it so much!
My outfit was 100% my best buy! I fell for the bridal thing a bit too much and spent money on silly things like slightly smaller heels for the evening, which I will never wear again but I was SO happy with my top and skirt and keep looking for occasions to wear them again, separately.
It sounds silly but I really didn't anticipate that everyone would be trying to talk to me all day, it was hard to get anywhere as there were so many lovely people to talk to. Brides, listen up: make sure you have someone in charge of getting you drinks!
Did anything not go to plan?!
It was all perfect, I think we forgot to play music when I was walking back down the aisle, after the ceremony, but I didn't care!
It's hard to choose but there was a moment right at the end of the night and everyone seemed to be on the dancefloor, dancing to Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush and singing along, me and Jon were having a little moment at the side of the room and kissed and suddenly everyone was cheering around us, I remember being really blown away and looking around at everyone we love cheering for us. It was amazing, I'll always remember that.
What did your family and friends and other half think about your outfit?
They loved it! Everyone said it was really unusual and very me. I got so many compliments on having separates, I think it's lovely for people to see something different. My husband didn't even notice until I pointed it out to him, as I expected!
Will you wear it again?
I've kept my eye out for literally any chance to crack them out and have already worn my top again, with jeans. I have recently completed celebrant training and I think the Thomas skirt would be perfect paired up with a colourful top for an event, so it may get to go to a few more weddings yet!
I honestly had such an amazing experience with House of Ollichon and want to shout about them to ANYONE who is looking for their perfect wedding outfit... I had looked for months and wasn’t crazy about the bridal thing, feeling like everything I saw wasn’t really me when I googled ‘alternative bridal boutique’ and got so lucky finding the only dress-less bridal store ever. On my first visit, I fell in love with almost everything and stopped my search. Hannah, the director, is a total babe and was so lovely, warm and helpful throughout and I could not have been happier with my outfit, it even had pockets!! I wore it twice and I’m sad I can’t wear it again, although the beauty of separates is that I definitely can give the top and skirt more outings on their own.
Thank you so much to Hannah & the team for making it such a fun, easy and memorable experience!
